Location

The estate is located in the heart of the Sierra de Segura, the most unspoilt of this Natural Park, which makes up nearly a fifth of the province of Jaen. The latter boasts four Natural Parks and is the world’s leading producer of olives and olive oil. Outside the Sierras its landscape is dominated by beautiful patterns of olive trees that dot its ochre hillsides.

The cities and towns of the province are very picturesque, offering many historically and culturally important sights – Ubeda and Baeza in particular, have been accorded World Heritage status. The capital city, Jaen, has its own graceful beauty and many historical monuments, particularly the Cathedral in the old City centre and the medieval Christian castle that rests on Mount Santa Catalina overlooking the City and the surrounding landscape.

The three-hour car journey drive from Granada airport to the estate is an enjoyable and scenic one, which can be interrupted at one of the above cities to make a longer holiday. The estate is equally accessible from the airports at Madrid, Valencia, Alicante (260 km) and Sevilla. The easiest route is from the main Granada-Albacete National Road, which skirts the Natural Park to the west, taking the exit at La Puerta de Segura, from where it is a 40 minute drive into the mountains. The road through the mountains from the east (ideal for Alicante or Murcia) is equally beautiful.

The finca can be reached by a day’s drive from the ferry ports of Bilbao (click here to see the route) and Santander (click here to see the route) which have all year round services from southern England. The journey can be broken in wonderful cities such as Burgos, Segovia, Madrid, Toledo and Cuenca – to name but a few.
